Culinary Facilitator


The Culinary Program Facilitator will be responsible for providing facilitation services for the delivery of our culinary based workshops and training programs with our clients located in the Sea to Sky Corridor and the Lower Mainland. This role will be primarily responsible for program delivery; coaching, mentoring, career development guidance, assisting with placement, preparing reports and program summaries. Culinary Facilitators are expected to provide professional, high quality service to program participants and clients throughout all contact and delivery.

The main tasks with this role are to facilitate engaging, in-class and hands-on culinary skills training within Indigenous communities. 


  • Deliver workshops and training programs to various user groups in person
  • Follow protocols outlined by Provincial and Federal Health Officers regarding COVID-19
  • Monitor attendance and participation 
  • Assess skills development during program delivery
  • Measure training progress to ensure concept delivery and overall program success
  • Facilitate hands on, practical culinary program components 
  • Demonstrate various culinary techniques
  • Introduce kitchen equipment and tools
  • Facilitate hands on, practical culinary safety program components
  • Ensure Foodsafe and sanitation guidelines are met
  • Create hands on, culinary lesson plans
  • Liaise with other facilitators and clients


  • Demonstrated experience delivering and facilitating basic culinary theory and practical training 
  • Experience guiding, coaching and mentoring diverse user groups
  • Experience providing hands on culinary training in an industrial style kitchen setting
  • Experience facilitating to Indigenous groups
  • Demonstrated experience working with those with complex barriers to traditional learning and a range of cultural backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully facilitate and communicate with persons with various levels of learning capabilities
  • Experience delivering programs and facilitating to those with barriers to traditional employment and education
  • Excellent problem solving ability


  • Advanced knowledge of all kitchen tools and implements
  • Well versed in all catering, cooking and baking techniques 
  • Comfortable in a working kitchen environment
  • Experience managing kitchen staff in high volume setting
  • Experience with food ordering and inventory
  • Active listening
  • Ability to build strong rapport and connections with program participants
  • Ability to facilitate effectively to those with educational challenges and various levels of learning capabilities
  • The ability to invite and encourage open communication, discussion and dialogue
  • The ability to establish a positive, goal-oriented learning environment to encourage engagement and program completion
  • Ability to develop a thorough understanding of each program, the materials and how to effectively facilitate each program
  • Ability to provide leadership and direction
  • 2 years’ experience facilitating to a variety of audiences 
  • Foodsafe Level 1 or 2 certificate


  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • Must be flexible, adaptable and pro-active
  • A great understanding of cultural uniqueness, diversity and community
  • Travel may be required
  • A valid BC driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
  • Clean Criminal Record check
  • Excellent Computer skills: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, Email


  • Post-secondary certificate, degree or diploma in a relevant field (eg. Social Work, Education, Psychology, Human Services, Counselling, Human Resource Management, Facilitation)
  • Experience working in catering within a remote workforce site


  • An equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A criminal record check may be required
  • A drug and alcohol test may be required for certain locations


This is a contract-based position based on our programming scheduling.
